Bears camp spotlight

The Bears worked in shorts and shells Tuesday night and will not be in
full pads tonight for Sun-Times Family Night at Soldier Field. Coach
Lovie Smith said the team is treating it like a typical Friday
practice during the regular season, and that means nothing too
intricate. The Bears don't want to give anything away because a scout
from the Green Bay Packers is expected. Attendance is allowed because
admission is being charged.

Wide receiver Bernard Berrian (groin) remained sidelined, and his
availability for Friday's game is unknown. Mushin Muhammad (groin)
returned to work and will play Friday. Free safety Chris Harris
(groin) was replaced by Danieal Manning in practice. Jamar Williams
(left knee) was out, and Hunter Hillenmeyer (shoulder) remained out of
contact. Punter Brad Maynard (groin) worked some in the morning but
could be held out Friday.

FOCUS ON MICHAEL HAYNES

Speculation swirled Tuesday evening that Michael Haynes might be
headed out of town in a trade to the Denver Broncos because he was not
at practice, but a source close to the player said he was told to stay
in the training room to rest his ailing back and receive treatment.
Haynes tried to practice in the morning before stripping his gear off.
He worked for the first hour Monday before going to the sideline. An
Internet report Tuesday linked him in a potential deal for disgruntled
Broncos wide receiver Ashley Lelie. But the Bears can't move him if he
can't pass a physical. "It will be interesting to say the least,''
said Haynes, who expected to be released or traded in the offseason.
Instead, he was moved inside to tackle, a position of depth that has
been thinned by injuries.
