How do you know he didn't call Bryant's agent?

The point I was trying to illustrate was that once Randle El was off
the market, Angelo didn't take a flyer on ANYBODY. No, Antonio Bryant
isn't worth $4 mil. But before he was signed and before we knew he'd
cost that much, would it have killed Angelo to make an inquiry?
Again, it's Angelo getting complacent, hoping that what he's got will
be enough on offense. But when it comes to the defense, he gladly
focuses his draft and free agency efforts in their direction.
Unbalanced effort. Unbalanced team.
