[CBFF] Seeing silver lining despite sloppy play

Yes, I do think that they were playing vanilla, considering that 'Zona is
on the regular season schedule. I think the Defense came out pretty tough,
and then scaled their effort back fairly quickly after Brown got dinged plus
the aforementioned scheduling with the Cards. And I think that Rex looked
good early, as did Moose and the O-line.
Some things that distressed me though: I have no confidence that this offense
can make the long first down to keep drives alive, *especially on second or
third downs*. Yet we had the Cards backed up 20 yards and then they they
pull one out of their hats to get the first down. In other words, I still
have major doubts that this team can overcome mistakes. They still have to
'play the perfect game to win', and I have my doubts they'll play that
perfect game on a consistent basis. Hey, our Tight End caught a pass, too!
We have no second receiver. Out of how many WR have we drafted since
Angelo's been here??, and the only decent rec'r we have, he got from free
agency. I know it's early, but the easy dropped balls I saw last Friday, I
remember seeing all last season. Nothing has changed (except Moose looking
a little more motivated). I think we have the highest dropped ball rate in
the league.. (just seems that way)... why??
My biggest fear is that the offense will play this year once again 'Not to
lose'. God, I hope I'm wrong, but my gut says be afraid.
The defense, I think, will be fine.... or did that playoff game expose them
and was their confidence shattered? Can we really expect the 1st team
offence to explode out of the gates when it hasn't scored a Pre-season TD
yet?
All I know is that no matter how bad Green Bay is supposed to be, Favre will
have them playing well enough at Lambeau to beat a Bears team that isn't
ready to start the season.
If that happens, I'm gonna be one pissed off MF'r.
