You're right, Steve, that in those games & halves you mention he was great.
Problem was, within that period, greatness was punctuated by horrible at
Minny (most of the game until the game winning drive late in the 4th), at AZ
and against Miami.  Their effect was to drive down his overall rating into
the average range.

On the statistical theory that highs and lows ought to be left out of the
equation--because you are never as great as your high and never as bad as
your worst--Rex was pretty good the fist 8 games.  Take out SF and AZ and
you have above average performance.

What keeps us all hanging on were the evidences of greatness along the way.
The hope is that he can recapture that.  That he can bottle that.  And that
become the Rex of the future.
