LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Jim Miller is going back to school.

The former Bears quarterback will return to his alma mater this season
to work as a color analyst on radio broadcasts of Michigan State
football games.

Jim Miller led the Bears to a 13-3 record and the NFC Central title in 2001.
A three-year starter in East Lansing from 1991-93, Miller still ranks
among Michigan State's all-time leaders in pass completions (second at
467), completion percentage (second at 62.9), pass attempts (fifth at
746) and passing yards (fifth at 5,037).

As a senior, the three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection shared team
MVP honors after completing 215 of 336 passes for 2,269 yards and nine
touchdowns.

"I'm excited to be affiliated with Michigan State University and its
football program again," Miller said. "It's a thrill to join (veteran
play-by-play man) George Blaha in the broadcast booth because he's a
true professional. I grew up listening to George call the Detroit
Pistons games.

"I'm glad to be part of the Spartan Radio Network, and I'm really
looking forward to the upcoming football season."

Miller played five seasons for the Bears from 1998-2002, compiling a
15-11 record as a starter. In his first two starts in 1999, he passed
for 422 yards against the Vikings and 357 yards versus the Chargers,
the fourth and seventh most prolific passing games in Bears history,
respectively.

In 2001, Miller posted an 11-2 record as a starter in leading the
resurgent Bears to a 13-3 record and their first NFC Central Division
championship since 1990. That season he established career highs in
all passing categories with 395 attempts, 228 completions, 2,299 yards
and 13 TDs.

Miller, who owns and operates JMK Custom Homes in Clarkston, Mich.,
will work alongside Blaha, who is entering his 29th season as the
voice of Michigan State football.

"I've always respected guys that played the game at the highest
level," Blaha said, "and Jim Miller had his share of big-time
victories at both the collegiate and professional levels.

This season marks the return of WJR Radio AM 760 as Michigan State's
flagship station in Detroit. WJR Radio previously served as the
Spartans' flagship station from 1963-76.

The games will be broadcast on more than 30 affiliates throughout
Michigan, including WJIM Radio AM 1240 and WMMQ FM 94.9 in Lansing,
WBBL AM 1340 in Grand Rapids and WMUS FM 106.9 in Muskegon.
