All of the Bears' 2006 draft picks have signed after safety Danieal Manning
and defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek agreed to four-year contracts Wednesday.
Terms of the deals were not disclosed. Manning was the Bears first selection
in the draft, chosen out of Abilene Christian in the second round (42nd
overall).
He and Dvoracek, (third round, 73rd overall) out of Oklahoma, join
second-round pick Devin Hester (No. 57), fourth-round pick Jamar Williams
(No. 120), fifth-round pick Mark Anderson (No. 159) and sixth-round picks
J.D. Runnels (No. 195) and Tyler Reed (No. 200) as draft picks that have
signed or agreed to terms.
Manning was a three-year starter at Abilene Christian before becoming the
second-highest drafted player in school history. He started all 30 games he
appeared in for the Wildcats and tallied 159 tackles, two sacks, 12 tackles
for loss, 11 interceptions, 13 pass break-ups, six forced fumbles, four
fumble recoveries and blocked four kicks. He registered 10 career
touchdowns: three kickoff returns, three punt returns, two receiving, one
fumble return and one interception return. Manning set a school record with
six career special teams touchdown returns. He was named a first-team
All-America defensive back as a senior after earning first-team All-America
accolades as a return specialist as a junior.
Dvoracek was a four-year letter-winner at Oklahoma, starting 26 of 48 career
games played while totaling 131 tackles with 16 sacks, 45 tackles for loss,
one interception and three fumble recoveries. He ranks fifth all-time in
Sooners history and third all-time among linemen in tackles for loss and is
12th on Oklahoma's career sacks list. The Dallas native was a two-time
consensus All-Big 12 first-team selection and was twice named to the All-Big
12 Academic first team.
