The Bears signed linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer to a five-year contract
extension that will carry through the 2011 season.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hillenmeyer ranks as the Bears third-leading tackler over the last two
seasons, totaling 161 tackles while starting 23 of 29 games.

A fill-in starter while recording a career-high 90 tackles in 2004, he
started a career-high 12 games at strong-side linebacker in 2005.
Hillenmeyer ranked seventh on the Bears with 71 tackles last season
while adding one sack and his first career interception.

Originally drafted by Packers in the fifth round (166th overall) of
the 2003 NFL draft, he signed with the Bears after being waived by
Green Bay.
