[CBFF] ...Just Wondering ....

Didn't get a chance to really watch the draft this weekend as I was running
around for one of my son's basketball tourney's, so I don't know if this was
brought up already or not, but regarding Pitt's trade to the spot directly
in front of the bears 26th slot; Does anyone think that maybe Pitt was
worried about the Bears picking Santonio Holmes up? Maybe Pat might have
brought this up being a big Buckeye fan (I think he was from Ohio St.), but
the guy looked dominate in the clips they showed of him at WR and kick
returner after the selection. And with him gone, the Bears then decided to
trade out of their spot? Just wondering out loud on that one. I wouldn't
have minded him at all if he had fallen to us.

Overall, my sizable gut reaction was that I was disappointed that we didn't
go out and try to get a playmaker on offense at either the TE or WR
position, or barring that, we didn't get the best available offensive
linemen. After simmering a bit, and reading all of the posts and
commentary, I feel better about trying to plug the apparent defensive holes,
(although I will say this about our playoff game and the perceived 'hole' in
our defense; I strongly feel it was more a failure of the coaches to adjust
our defense than it was a complete lack of talent from the particular DB's
that were burnt that day.) So with that said, if our coaching can learn from
their (playoff) mistakes and with the drafted personnel that we acquired (if
they're as good as we're being lead to believe), we should, barring injury,
again have the #1 Defense in the league going away.

Combine that with an offense (which was hamstrung as much by our rookie QB
as it was by the coaches lack of trust in him to air it out for most of the
season)… an offense that should take a **large** stride in productivity with
a healthy Rex (If you're of the mindset that he's **the** guy), healthy
rec's (If you're of the mindset that **the** guy is actually on the
roster), A revitalized Moose (if you're of the mindset that he'll bounce
back big), and that Cedric will post multiple 100 yard game (again, if your
of the mindset that he's **the** guy, as well). If you're of **that**
mindset, than we're a DEEP DEEP playoff team….

Personally, of just those four offensive issues, I think we'll hit on at
least 3 of them.

I can't wait until the season prognosticators start posting their respective
prognostications!!
