No, I do see what you're saying there; I guess we just are weighing the 
proportion of what he was saying differently. I felt like his criticism was 
heavy on the "didn't fill needs" and lighter on the "reached with Manning 
and Hester."

I feel like part of the criticism of Manning and Hester, too, is based on 
"what can they do for the Bears today?" rather than how good they can or 
will become. As we've already discussed, I think JA was clearly making a 
statement to his coach that there is plenty of talent and he was looking 
toward shoring up the team in the future.

Landry apparently disagrees with that, and as you point out, he does have 
very strong knowledge of the Bears' talent. However, while I find some very, 
very good information in his pregame matchup assessments, his prediction of 
what that will mean in the scoreboard is just as hit-and-miss as anyone's. 
And that's where he loses me, is in the big picture. I think JA might 
sometimes lose the present for the big picture, but that's definitely his 
philosophy.
