Bears sign cornerback

Continuing to bolster their defensive backfield depth, the Bears on
Tuesday signed rookie cornerback Carlos Hendricks to a one-year deal
while releasing kicker Matt Fordyce.

Hendricks, an undrafted free agent out of Alabama-Birmingham, caught
the Bears' eye during the May 5-7 rookie mini-camp.

Fordyce, originally signed on March 1, became expendable when the
Bears signed undrafted rookie free agent Josh Huston on April 30.
