[CBFF] CBFF Blog: "Arrogant" Angelo Laughs Last

How many teams out there lose their 2nd best Lb such as Briggs and don't
miss a beat. What about the Seahawks. They had arguably the best left side
of the OL in the league last year, lost Hutchinson and have nothing to step
in. Our backups may not be all pros, however we have plenty of experience,
and we have players that can play multiple positions. We have decent depth
in the defensive backfield and on the DL. We have decent depth at RB ..
Hell our number 3 back rushed for like 500 yds last year.

Not that Angelo has not made mistakes, however I definitely feel that
mediocre is a tad tough of a grade on him.

I know I'm worried about the offensive line. I don't feel that much of the
depth is any good and since the starters are all so old I think it's an
issue that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. I also think that
the LB depth needs to show something or they need to draft or sign somebody.
Ayabendejo is great for special teams and spot duty but that defense gets
noticeably worse if Urlacher, Hillenmeyer and Ayabendejo are the starting
'backers. I don't think that the coaches have any confidence in Leon Joe or
the other recent drafted LBers. I'm really unclear on the RB situation
because I can't tell if it's a scheme issue or lack of talent. Last year the
Bears ran with nine guys in the box and were able to grind out the yards but
last week was the first time I had any confidence in the run game -
unfortunately it's not impressive when you run on the 49ers.

Basically, there are issues and flaws with this team that haven't been
exposed yet for various reasons. At this time it's not an issue, but to be
successful you have to think ahead and plan for when things go wrong.
Not every team will give up 17 points before they get a first down.

I don't think Angelo has done a bad job, he's just very mediocre. I wouldn't
hesitate if someone better was available. Although I should give him credit
for the Lovie signing, so far it's looking really good.
