Perhaps you were able to see more on TV than I could. I'm not doubting
Grossman was a little frustrated but from the route the receivers were
running it seemed Grossman was keeping the ball in safe
spots.........very safe spots considering they were often far away from
where even the receiver could get to them.
I'm also wondering if this wasn't a more conservative gameplan from
Turner as well considering there weren't as many downfield routes run by
the WRs. Perhaps this was a concerted effort to get guys open earlier in
their routes so the blitzing Jets wouldn't get to Grossman. Grossman is
a downfield guy, so I think the change in game plan really threw the
passing game out of sync.
That all said, let me say something to compare the fan experience these
past two weeks at "Giants" Stadium. According to Giants fans, Jets fans
are the more raucous group and the reason behind some more strict
security measures at the stadium. From this observer's standpoint it was
exactly the opposite. You would have thought the Jets fans would be
fired up sitting at 5-4 and after beating the Pats, but it was extremely
quiet compared to the previous week with the Giants fans. I couldn't
believe how quiet it was when we had a 3rd down, it was the quietest
I've ever experienced in a visiting team's stadium.
