[CBFF] How long till the love for Lovie?

Lovie doesn’t see the type that really cares what his financial standing is
as long as he knows his work is appreciated and will be compensated
appropriately when the time comes.

Here's the thing. Ever been really wanted somewhere and been good at what
you do while you were there? Maybe the question was can you survive at what
you're getting paid? Lovie can survive, and he knows he'll get paid more
eventually. No, he'll never get paid like Tuna or Joe Gibbs, but I don't see

that as a high priority for him. Not at this point, anyway.

As long as he doesn't feel like he's not getting paid more because the
management doesn't believe in him -- and I can't imagine that -- I don't see

him going anywhere. Now, if he weren't offered an extension when he got to
his last year, that is a sign of "We don't like you anymore." But at this
point it's just where it is... he's still on his rookie contract. If he
can't suck it up, how can he expect any of the Bears' rookies to suck it up.

It's not like he runs the risk of getting injured.

Matt,

To the contrary my friend! I'm not pissed-off about this one. I'm
just nervous. Think about it: Lovie is the first decent head coach
we've had since Ditka. Wanne was horrible; even his former players
say as much (Chris Zorich does a great Wanne impression, by the way).
Dick Jauron is one of the classiest guys in the NFL... and a mediocre
coach at best.

We suffered through a decade of these guys and along comes Lovie
Smith. He returns the D to its former glory. He can admit when he's
wrong AND makes the necessary change (e.g. Terry Shae). He seems to
know the right amount of discipline and pressure to enact on his team
(e.g. Training Camp 06). Bottom line: the guy knows how to maximize a
player's strengths and doesn't ask them to do what they can't. That's
outstanding!

So, no Matt, I'm not pissed.  If anything, I'm the complete opposite;
which is why I want JA to wrap up a contract extension with Lovie and
pay him what he's worth.

Jerry
