For cornerbacks, those were not exactly huge contracts. Azumah's was done
early, so they got to use cap space from the previous year, and RW, well, at
the time he was the only cover guy we had. If Zoom hadn't had nagging injury
problems, he was turning into a really good cover corner and a great kick
returner. He was worth it. RW was a great playmaker who somehow lost his
ability to follow directions.
I wonder if you were thinking about Alfonso Boone because it was five years,
but it wasn't a lot of money. My point about being conservative is not that
they won't pay market value, but they won't do Washington Redskins type of
contracts, they don't get into bidding wars and they don't sign people
early. They've established a consistency where you know what you're in for,
whether you like it or not.
