Just from talking to all of the friends that have kids playing hockey, it
gets damned expensive. By far, it's an all year round sport, and even when
it's in season much of the ice time has to be financed by the parents; all
of it in the off-season... and they buy *a lot* of ice time. that gets to be
quite a bit. Then they have clinics *all* of the time that the parents are
kind of afraid to miss because they think their kid will fall behind or out
of favor with the coaches if they don't attend. I, personally, think hockey
programs have a little bit of an iferiority complex, keeping events going
all year to keep kids from playing other sports which they might like
better. All hockey, all the time.
That's my take, anyway.
