I'll add that Payton had the disadvantage (if you can say that) of being 
a RB instead of a QB. He did as much for the Bears as any RB could 
possibly do, but unlike Montana, did not have his hands on the ball each 
and every offensive play. Plus, I don't care who the QB is, if you don't 
have a running game you're doomed.
