Montana was drafted in 79. Rice in 85. Both played together until 92 when
Joe left for the Chiefs.

Montana won the SB in 81 and 84 w/out Rice.

I agree in general with your sentiment that he played on better teams, but
think of it this way:

Could the 49ers have won all of their SuperBowls w/out Montana? Probably
not.

Could the Bears have won SB XX w/out Payton? Quite possibly.
