I agree with alot of what you're saying here (though there are other teams
that have sucked for just as long or longer, but still don't get the
negativity the Bears do  -  ie; Saints)  But your comment above (and I agree
with that as well) I think is what the National media wants to tap into....
the skepticism and negativity of alot of the Bears faithful.... and to try
to stir the pot with it.  I think they'd rather pull the Bears fans 'chains'
so to speak, rather than take an honest look at the team.  It's more fun
that way.... at least for them.
