1. The Forty Niners were sitting on the run and daring the Bears to pass.
I've a feeling this is what we're going to see at least for the first few
real games. Some would still blame the line for not opening up more holes
and I wouldn't argue it. But do bear in mind that they were fighting an
uphill battle.
2. Grossman is separating his hands on the snap again. That was what
happened on the fumble. If a hack like me knows it, you can bet that the
coaching staff does, too. I think Grossman just can't break the habit.
3. The Forty Niners spent the first half running the ball and not
challenging the secondary. I can only conclude that is where they thought
the Bears were weak, maybe because they were playing a fair bit of straight
up cover-2 (To my eye. Hard to tell on TV)
4. Did I see Hester wag his finger at the Niner bench? I HATE that!
5. Each team was having footing issues. I'm going to guess that it's
because of all of the recent rain we've had.
6. Not only did Drisan James muff that punt in the second quarter, he did it
inside the ten. Double foul.
7. It seemed to me like there was occasionally too much talking on field on
the part of the Bears. Again, I can't stand that.
8. Overall I think the Bears have to do a better job of protecting the
ball. Lovie Smith said as much at halftime.
9. The niners first string offense was a pretty good example of how you can
shoot yourself in the foot. They don't look ready for the season.
10. Turner did everything he could to put Wolfe in a position to make
plays. I'm just a little disappointed.
11. I liked the touch that Orton displayed.
