The Bears waived nine players Monday, including wide receiver Brandon
Rideau and linebacker Leon Joe.

Rideau, who was in competition with Mike Hass for a roster spot,
injured his right ankle in an exhibition against the Indianapolis
Colts and missed Saturday's game against San Francisco. Rideau was on
the Bears' practice squad last season.

Also cut Monday were defensive tackle Justin Frick, receivers Timon
Marshall and Clinton Solomon, offensive guard Tyler McMeans, safety
Jay Staggs, kicker Nick Novak, and punter Joel Stelly.

Joe was a fourth-round selection of the Bears in the 2004 draft.

The Bears were required to cut their roster to 75 by Tuesday.
