[CBFF] AFC bottleneck

Well, in the NBA, the referees get fired if they have gambled, even legally like in Vegas. That's why the Donaghy story could get interesting since he can finger a bunch of guys and force the league's hand (although I guess Stern is saying that they won't trust any of the info Donaghy provides since he thinks he's a big liar).

Gambling was always one of the prominent things that statements from Goodell mentioned when discussing the Vick matter.

Anyway, animal cruelty is a serious crime and we've set up laws for it - apparently in Virginia there is a 1-5 year sentence for each count so if the state prosecutes he'll have some kind of longer sentence. It looks like the NFL is going to wait as long as it can to provide an actual length to the suspension and it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to keep Vick out of the league until he's 35 or older and nobody would be willing to take a chance on him.

So we are to assume the penalty would be the same if a guy were running
a weekly poker game out of his crib.
