[CBFF] As It Stands Now, Keep Rex

Rex's biggest problem that I can see is that he's still too jumpy in the
pocket. You could see that on the very first drive.. maybe even the first
or second play, where he rolled out of the pocket to his left with no
defender near him, and then he flinches big-time because he thought he was
going to take a hit, before realizing that he has plenty of time to get off
the pass... which he did for a nice long completion. He's jumpy to the
degree that he loses rational thought and either forgets or doesn't take the
half second to think about it. and rolls out of pressure completely the
wrong way. Of course, if other QB's had to operate behind a sieve, most of
them would be running for their lives too... but still, he has to get a grip
on this... and the only way to do it is PT and experience.
I see incremental improvement in this area, so there is hope that he's
moving in the right direction here... along with the other areas that have
shown marked improvement (turnovers mostly, or lack thereof), and combined
with his strengths, that being a rocket arm, good accuracy with the long and
medium ball most of the time, I feel you have to let him play for most of
the off-season until / unless he melts down again. In that case, we know;
he's done, and time to look else where.
Personally, I think turner has to take alot of the blame after the first
series or two... Whenever Rex had the big rush come at him, it was all too
obvious that the play didn't have a dump-off guy. It was either complete
the play as designed (with a mountain of defenders coming at you and
no O-line to impede their rout to the QB, toss it away, or eat it. Which
Rex did. It wasn't until late in the game when I noticed that Turner finally
figured it out and gave Rex a dump-off option, which he used effectively
when he had the option, for the most part.
One other comment; again, after being effective early... the TE's were left
off of the play chart for most of the game. No excuse for this and his
other gaffs. Turner has got to go.
