[CBFF] - Part of this must be subterfuge

USA Today's salary database has him down for $ 3,119,080 this year. It says his salary is $ 1,915,000 so the signing bonus counts for 1,204,080. Last year he counted for $ 5,473,850 - base salary of $ 1,020,000 - other bonus 3,253,850 (roster bonus I think, these only count during the year they're paid) = 1,200,000 for the bonus. I went back to 2005 and the signing bonus is listed at 6,000,000 with a 2 mill. roster bonus. So, the 8 million was right but not all of it was a signing bonus. The hit would be 1 million x 3 years (6 year contract, but 05, 06, 07 are paid) = 3 million, and his base salary is 1 million so they would lose 2 million. That's probably very rough since I know the USA Today site isn't always accurate. Still, it seems close compared to what Tom said.

I agree totally. He might talk a little too much (he's got his own TV show,
for God's sake), but there is no doubt that the little veteran tricks have
trickled down to the young guys, and our WR corps beyond him is still young.
That's the No. 1 thing to me that causes WRs to take 3 years to develop in
most cases, the mind games, the fakes, the little things.
Moose might not be super productive right now, but I don't think his
contract is that expensive, either. Anyone know the cap implications of
keeping vs. cutting?

Jason,
The Bear WR corps got better pretty quickly after Muhammad arrived. I think
its because a veteran presence and experience helped stabilize the group and
that he taught the younger guys a lot of tricks. That might make him more
valuable than he would appear to be on paper.
Just a suggestion.
