[CBFF] Anybody else catch Hub tonight?

Sounds to me like most NFL head coaches. I didn't see Wade Philips run down
to Dallas and run the 4-3. They all have their own schemes with
organizations to provide what those require. Smith's defensive Xs and Os
are fine. Babich is apparently weaker but he's a first year coordinator and
he'll be better next year.

IMO the weakness on this team is offensive (as in team with the ball
although the adjective applies as well). That's where they are still trying
to find their way and they're doing it primarily because Smith *isn't*
married to a scheme. And don't tell me they run the West Coast because we
all know that could mean anything. The offense has no clear direction and
no identity. I look for that to change this offseason. Something tells me
that:

1) Smith is going to finally lay it out in general terms
2) Turner's going to nod, say, "Yes, sir" and work on the specifics and
3) Angelo is going to provide him with some big bodies on the line to run
the ball behind.

Could be wrong but one way or the other I'm looking for a clear direction
for the offense to emerge and I'm looking for Angelo to begin to provide the
players to go in that direction.

I'm as angry as you Jerry. But I hate to see the organization give up on
all of these guys just as they're figuring it out. Angelo is a first time
GM. Smith is a first time HC. Babich is a first time DC. A lot of the
assistants were first timers in their jobs. I don't (and didn't at the
time) like any of that anymore than you do. I don't like a lot of the
mistakes that were made this year and I don't like many of the decisions
that were made. But if the Bears are going to run it like this, they need
to be patient and accept the fact that for the first 10 years as a GM, 5
years as an HC and 2 years as an DC mistakes are going to happen and guys
are going to be feeling their way. Let them all go now and you've just
trained them to go somewhere else and be successful.
