[CBFF] Briggs gets the franchise tag!!!

Not only will he be a FA in a year (assuming there is no extension) he's
also getting a chunk of change.  7.2 mil or thereabouts if I recall
correctly.

I know he doesn't want the franchise tag, but I also know this shouldn't
have come as a surprise to anybody.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first time the Bears have ever
used the tag?  I know they've used the transition player tag in the past
(Alonzo Spelling comes to mind), but I don't have a memory of them every
using the franchise tag on another player.  Nice choice for a first time
tag.
