Right, if maximizing the dollar amount is No. 1 on his mind.

Being a franchise player is actually a sideways way of getting that 
recognition he'd get by being a high-dollar signing somewhere else.

Thing is, a lot of casual fans would never recognize him with his helmet 
off. I think he wants that to change.

Yeah- but he might have cleaned up even more in free agency. Teams
will not want to give up 2 first round picks, although if you are a
team with lousy picks in the first round, he would be well worth it.
So he could have made more money in free agency...
