Pack, Bears tickets to cost extra
Staff And Wire Reports
Last update: July 02, 2007 - 8:15 PM
Fans hoping to buy tickets to see the Vikings play host to Green Bay or
Chicago this season should be prepared to pay extra when single-game tickets
go on sale Monday.
Those purchasing Green Bay (Sept. 30) or Chicago (Dec. 17) tickets also will
be required to buy one to a preseason game. Officially, the Vikings are
calling them two-game mini-packs and a news release says the tickets will be
sold "if available." The team has done this in the past.
Buying a ticket to the Green Bay game means fans must purchase one to the
preseason opener Aug. 10 against St. Louis. A Bears ticket requires the
purchase of another one to the exhibition finale Aug. 30 against Dallas.
Prices will range from $92 to $248 per package.
Tickets to all home games go on sale at 8 a.m. Monday at the Metrodome's
Gate B ticket booth, cash or credit card only. At 9 a.m. Monday, tickets
will be made available at all Midwest Ticketmaster locations, by calling
651-989-5151 or at www.ticketmaster.com. Single-game ticket prices range
from $46 to $124.
Here is the Vikings' 2007 home schedule: Aug. 10 vs. St Louis, 7 p.m.
(preseason); Aug. 30 vs. Dallas, 7 p.m. (preseason); Sept. 9 vs. Atlanta,
noon; Sept. 30 vs. Green Bay, noon; Oct. 28 vs. Philadelphia, noon; Nov. 4
vs. San Diego, noon; Nov. 18 vs. Oakland, noon; Dec. 2 vs. Detroit, noon;
Dec. 17 vs. Chicago, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 23 vs. Washington, noon.
Holcomb interested
Veteran quarterback Kelly Holcomb knows his odds of making the Philadelphia
Eagles roster aren't very good, considering the team had Donovan McNabb and
A.J. Feeley before drafting Kevin Kolb in the second round of April's NFL
draft. Holcomb told the Fox Sports website that playing for Vikings coach
Brad Childress would interest him.
"Every now and again, you hear some rumblings and rumors about that. I think
it makes sense," Holcomb said. "Coach Childress was a coordinator in
Philadelphia. It is the same offense. Obviously the Eagles just drafted
Kevin to go with Donovan and A.J. I love the guys in Philadelphia and love
the professionalism and Andy Reid and the staff and I'd like to stay. But
there is a logjam here and that situation you are describing, with the young
talented quarterback in Minnesota, is one I've thought about."

Etc.
. New England coach Bill Belichick said during a radio interview that former
Gophers running back Laurence Maroney (shoulder injury) should be ready for
training camp. "I'm sure he'll be close," Belichick said. "He's doing well.
He's worked extremely hard this offseason."
. Tank Johnson's blood alcohol level was below the legal limit when the
former Chicago Bears tackle was arrested in Arizona on suspicion of drunken
driving June 22.
. Three-time Pro Bowl linebacker LaVar Arrington was released from the
hospital, two weeks after breaking his right arm and severely cutting his
leg in a motorcycle accident.
. Pro Bowl punter Brian Moorman signed a three-year contract extension with
the Buffalo Bills. Moorman's new deal runs through 2012 and is worth $10
million, putting him among the league's best-paid punters.
. The Oakland Raiders lost their case in California's top court after
contending in a lawsuit that the NFL sabotaged the team's effort to build a
stadium at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles. The case dates back more than 20
years when Raiders managing partner Al Davis accused the league of purposely
not doing enough to help the team move from the antiquated Los Angeles
Memorial Coliseum to a new stadium complete with revenue-generating luxury
suites. The Raiders returned to Oakland in 1995 after spending 13 years in
Los Angeles.
