I'm not sure why you are saying this, especially since trading him
would make most sense at the present not in two years.
A lot of baseball players have no-trade clauses inserted into their
contracts, something I would think a "home town discount" would
require in return. Plus, with any trade the teams would need to decide
who's taking most of the salary. Buehrle's career peak is right about
now, so do you really think the Sox would be planning now to trade him
in two years if it meant eating some significant salary later?
