I guess Lovie is just covering up for Benson then?  I'm sure if Lovie
thought he could play and make a difference, he would have played.

I think that one of the things that Couch is getting at is that Benson may
still have the "Why should I risk myself for nothing" attitude that he
displayed at the end of his rookie year when Turner had to talk him into
playing the last game while the rested TJ.

I *think* that maybe Benson still watches out for number one first.  No one
would blame him for that but I think he's does it to the extent where it
doesn't endear him to teammates.  Admittedly it's a tough balance to achieve
and I could very well be wrong there.  It's very speculative.

But bottom line, it looks to me like Couch is trying to make the point that
Benson wasn't all that hurt without actually coming out and saying it.
