Two sides to every story...
Joe Horn said on Thursday after his release from the Saints that he was let go because it was personal.
"Right now it's going around that the Saints wanted to restructure my contract, but this had nothing to do with money," the former Saints wide receiver told Brett Friedlander of the Fayetteville Observer, Horn's hometown newspaper.
"I wanted to retired as a Saint. I've been through a lot with that city and that organization. I wanted to retire as a Saint. If I wanted out of New Orleans that bad, I would have just kept quite and let them move the team to San Antonio.
"I just don't think coach Sean Payton wanted me back. I asked to be released because the head coach wanted to prove he could win without Joe Horn."
Horn was held out of the Saints' two playoffs games because of an inured groin muscle.
"I was cleared to play by the doctors," said Horn which led to the irreparable falling out with Payton.
"When Sean Payton came here, I promised him I would be the best receiver, the strongest receiver and the best-conditioned receiver in the league," said Horn. "Even after I got hurt. I rehabbed every week, trying to get ready to play.
"But even after the best orthopedic doctor in the country said I was ready to play and I practiced the week before the championship game with Chicago, he made the decision not to play me. That's when New Orleans wasn't going to be big enough for both Joe Horn and Sean Payton."
Horn's agent, Ralph Vitolo, said there is plenty of interest in Horn. Among the teams that have already contacted him are Atlanta, Miami, Cleveland and Green Bay.
Horn said he wants to go someplace where he can show that he can still put up big numbers and help the football team. "I want to go someplace with a head coach who believes in me and an organization that I respect.
"My age (35) and the injury are not an issue," said Horn. "I know I can still perform and be one of the best receivers in the league."

Joe Horn is flapping his gums a bit too much in the aftermath of the Saints
decision to let him go.
League sources have confirmed to us that Horn failed his latest physical
with the Saints. Thus, cutting him was a no brainer. In fact, the Saints
did want to keep him at a lower number for this year, but Horn refused. And
that's strange on 2 fronts; Horn knows he failed his physical and he told
Sirius NFL Radio when he signed his extension a few years ago that he knew
he would never see the back end of the deal.
Cutting him was a no brainer by Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton.
Maybe it would be wise if Horn stopped trashing the Saints. His loose
lips certainly won't be attractive to his next team. And neither will his
questionable health.
