[CBFF] Bears pissed... err... traded their chances

Uh oh.....
I think the move is good for the Bears for a few reasons:
TJ was entering his contract year and if you though he was disgruntled last
offseason it would have been a huge fire storm this year.
It was obvious the Bears weren't interested in signing TJ long
term.......which is actually a good thing. He would have been too expensive
with Benson also on the roster, plus he's on the back end of his career .
Remember, career length for RBs tends to be short.
With long term deals looming for Briggs, THarris, Vasher and a few others
cap space is going to become a premium. Can you honestly tell me that with
the current roster situation you'd pick signing TJ long term over the
others???
The Bears obviously think Benson can carry the load, but if you still like
the two back attack a very capable AP now enters the spotlight.
If you look at the continued success of teams like the Patriots they are
constantly turning over their roster (save for a few key positions like QB).
They even decided to go with a rookie kicker over Mr. Clutch Adam
Vinitari!!!! (sp?)
With some good secondary talent in the draft having the second rounder so
much earlier will really help landing one of the top guys. That or an extra
shot at one of the better OLs. Or perhaps our new third string RB. Or an
impact WR.
That all said, I'm not saying it's all going to be roses but I think this is
a great football move by JA (though I'm a little surprised he couldn't get
more in return).
