I can respect everything you say here, even though I might disagree on a few
items..

I just feel, as close as we are, continuality with a group is very
important. One of the main reasons this defense was so effective this year
was primarily due (in my humble opinion) to most all of the players
returning. If it were not for a couple of injuries, the Title would be
ours.

Draft picks are far from a sure thing. They're apt to hold out or get
injured more readily than a veteran (even one in Briggs' situation), will
need to learn the system, and there's no guarantee that they'll live up to
their hype/potential. All those question marks vs a solid, pro-bowl veteran
who knows the system?? If we were not at the the threshold of a league
title, not knocking on the door, or in some kind of rebuilding mode, then I
would be more amicable to your scenario.

I think Angelo understands Briggs' Value at this point as well, otherwise I
doubt he would have slapped the tag on him. I also don't think your giving
Briggs quite as much credit as he due. Granted, he had some quality
teammates that might have been taking the heat off of him, but he still made
the plays when they needed to be made in some critical games down the
stretch, and only finishing a few tackles off of Brian's totals. That's
nothing to sneeze at, IMO.
