BEARS HAVEN'T SIGNED CARTER

In an item posted earlier on Sunday night, ESPN.com reported that the
Bears had signed former Steelers safety Tyrone Carter to a three-year
deal.

But the folks in Bristol have since pulled a Tribune-Review, expunging
from the story any reference to Carter.

A league source tells us that the Bears have not signed Carter, and that
nothing is imminent.
