An o-line that came out of the chute flat and lethargic, maybe? An OC who
can turn into a zombie with some of his play calling? WR's that all of a
sudden can't cath the ball? A RB that can't run or, more importantly, pass
block? But if one tries to explain what some of his problems may have been
caused by, one runs the risk of being called an apologist.

But listen, I admit he did play pretty terribly early on. I may have been
the first on the list to say had had to sit ( the game prior to his actual
sitting). But in hindsight, I feel he needs one more opportunity. It's just
still too short of an evaluation period for a guy who's show the pretty
incredible upside we saw at one point or another. Franchise QB's are too
damned hard to find, especially for the Bears, to so easily throw one out
with the bathwater. I just want to make sure the Bears don't do that.

I'll tell you. He looked exactly the same as he did when he finished

In the Superbowl. Let's just be clear where it was that he finished.

He wasn't progressing, Steve. He was making the

He played a couple of pretty solid playoff games if I remember.

Once, coming off the bench. Big deal. He didn't melt under pressure,
though, did he? Can you even admit that? So he DIDN'T do the same thing.
But this is what I'm talking about. the guy has to be practically perfect
before anyone grudgingly says .. 'ok, I guess'.

Than you weren't watching with an open mind. I just told you one; He didn't
melt down when the defense turned up the pressure or after he made (or did
Kruetz?) a mistake with the fumble. He threw *one* questionable pass,
afaic. He took care to throw the rest of them away when he had to. And
you're right, he did move better in the pocket. I think those are reasons
to be hopeful.
