I'm guessing that not all of the problem is with Jerry. There were a lot
of articles written after Lovie got his contract about how his influence
was growing, and that likely meant he would have a bigger say in
personnel matters.

My gut feel is that Angelo deferred more than usual to Lovie instead of
doing his own thing. I'm sure drafting Bazuin, and Okwo had something to
do with Lovie's influence.

Don't look for history to repeat itself. Angelo is to smart to let his
career sink like this. I expect a veteran house cleaning in the off
season. Guys who should be off the roster include the Fred Miller, Ruben
Brown, and Moose.

I peeked at the '08 FAs here:

The article was written before the 07 season, so it could use some
updating. Still, its obvious we can re-tool the line if we want. My only
concern is that I believe our cap situation is not good in 08, but I
could be wrong.

My point is, Angelo got the Bears in position to be in the Super Bowl.
He deserves a chance to correct what has happened this season. I'm sure
he knows he needs to re-tool the line (and the defensive backfield,
too). My question is, are improvements in those two areas enough to
return the Bears to contender form in 08?
