Bears down to one Ayanbadejo on their roster
By Vaughn McClure, 2:33 p.m.
Fullback Obafemi Ayanbadejo, placed on the suspended list for the
first four games of the season for violating the NFL's policy on
steroids and related substances, said he will not be signed to the
Bears' 53-man roster. Ayanbadejo was told of the team's intentions
Monday.
"I knew that this was possible," he said. "I definitely didn't expect
it to happen. I thought I'd be able to come back and maybe just
contribute, then see how things went. I'm disappointed 100 percent,
but I have nothing negative to say about the opportunity the Bears
organization gave me."
Ayanbadejo participated in training camp and played in the exhibition
season. The Bears signed fullback Lousaka Polite after Ayanbadejo was
placed on the suspended the list. It appears Polite will remain as the
backup to starter Jason McKie.
Ayanbadejo is the brother of Bears' All-Pro special-teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo.
