Well, then, you'll be asking me to insult Lovie's intelligence, too, in
subscribing to your theory. I'm just not buying it. Listen to his recent
comments. That is an unhappy Lovie I'm hearing. It sounds as if he did not
expect this poor of a performance and is not very pleased. And make no
mistake: Lovie is not a good actor, he can't just put that on.
I fully expect NFL teams to plan for a 16 game schedule and so, for
instance, there are other John St. Claire-type plays they've practiced but
won't pull out until, say, week 12 or even the playoffs. But I just do not
accept the theory--whether it be the philosopher or Neanderthal side of
me--that NFL teams do not do EVERYTHING within their power to win once the
season starts. And this team especially, given its history of offensive
woes, we wanted to start off dominant, just like last year, not
bad-to-mediocre like we have.
Sorry. Ain't buying the Neanderthal postulate, either.
