I think it’s a given that there will be no SB without an offense.  That
makes it a bad start in my mind. However that doesn't upset me as much as it
would have in previous years.  For one thing, they're still better than most
teams even without an offense.

More importantly, I do believe that the offense will get better one way or
the other.  No matter what else you might say about Lovie Smith, he's going
to do whatever he feels is necessary to improve the team.  For instance, he
might say "Rex is our guy" but if he feels the team is better off starting
someone else, I know he'll do it.  I was not always so sure Dick Jauron
would.  Or, more accurately, I was not always so sure that Jauron wouldn't
stick with someone (player or coach) too long out of the misguided idea that
loyalty would eventually buy him wins.  Smith has no such delusions about
that or anything else.  I also have more faith than some in the current
coaching staff under Smith.  All in all, they know the offense must get
better and it will get better.  Either that or heads will roll.
