With Brett Favre on the reserve/retired list in Green Bay and Casey
Bramlet on the Chargers' roster, NFL teams are carrying 107 quarterbacks
into the draft. The Bears, with Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton, are the
only team with fewer than three.
Tampa Bay leads the league with five. Every AFC West team has four.
Every AFC South team except Indianapolis has four. The 49ers, Giants and
Bengals also have four. The remaining teams, including the Colts, have
three apiece.
Teams have less flexibility this offseason because the disappearance of
NFL Europe has hardened the 80-man roster limit. No more exemptions will
mean fewer quarterbacks in camp. About a quarter of the league went into
camp last year with five or six quarterbacks. That is a luxury teams
might not be able to afford.
