The Bears are very serious when they say they're going to let Rex
Grossman and Kyle Orton compete for the starting quarterback job. They
traded away Brian Griese and didn't pursue any quarterbacks in the draft
or free agency.
But there finally was some movement at the position Monday. The Bears
signed Colorado State's Caleb Hanie and Southern Illinois' Nick Hill as
undrafted free agents. It's likely one of them will stick as the third
quarterback.
Keep an eye on Hanie, who was pursued by Dallas and several other teams
before deciding on the Bears. He was accurate in college and could fit
nicely in a ball-control offense like Chicago's.
