[CBFF] So how many draft picks will start for the Bears? -- chicagotribune.com

As a Bear, I've never seen 'Damn Good' out of Benson. Ever. If Benson plays
like he did last season, he'll be sitting by the 4th game, maybe
earlier. And considering Benson's injury, and the fact we hear he's not
working hard at recovery, my odds of Forte starting (at some point this
season)? better than 50/50.

Williams is a lock to be starting at some point this season, if not
immediately.

Odds are Bennet will be starting as well at some point.

At this time, I'd like to clarify the term 'starting'. We all know there
are easily bruised egos in this league (ex: Benson), and while I believe all
of the above and a few yet to be discussed could very well become the
official 'starters', they also may only show that they 'should be' the
starts, playing more snaps than the 'official' guy, but not actually ever
getting the start, due to the all important 'ego soothing' that coaches feel
the vets deserve. I kind of equate this to a title fight, where as, if the
challenger doesn't out-right knock the champ out, he'll have to knock him
down a couple times. A close win won't get you that belt, or a 'starting'
spot on the team. I will say that Lovie doesn't prescribe to this
philosophy as much as some other coaches (or past Bears coaches).

Now, with that said, I'll continue with Harrison, who'll get into the
rotation just as much (and possibly more) as Dvoracek, but may never trot
onto the field as a starter this year.

Seltz will be the starter only if Brown goes down again, so I hope we don't
see much of him, but am damn glad we have him just in case. I think he's #2
on the depth chart after 1/2 a season.
Bowman won't beat out our two starting corners, but he'll be in the
rotation, and like Seltz, Glad he's there in case one of our guys go down
(yeah, I think he'll be the #3 corner on the depth chart fairly quickly,
health permitting)

I think this draft class provides a wealth of talent, whether it be
starting, rotational, or depth; it will provide all of those. It just won't
provide a new QB, which I still believe sticks in a few craw's and will have
to be gotten over before you can fairly evaluate this draft class.
