You know, Haynesworth might not be a bad FA. Front load the shit out of a
contract for him and then in 2009, there will be money for Tommie...provided
he can actually get 100% and remain 100% the whole year. He would be some
damn good insurance for Tommie.

How will neck surgery affect Urlacher's career? - Chicago Bears
Larry: I heard that Brian Urlacher had neck surgery and was wondering
how it will affect his career and whether he will be ready to
participate in training camp this summer. And why haven't the Bears
released more details about the surgery?
Frank L.
Wilmette, Illinois
Frank: Brian Urlacher recently did undergo a standard procedure on his
neck, and the results were very favorable. By no means do the Bears
feel that the situation is career-threatening. As a matter of fact,
the team anticipates that Urlacher will be able to participate in the
offseason program. It's not uncommon for Bears players to undergo
medical procedures during the offseason, and the team is not required
by the NFL to release any details.
Larry: What are the Bears' chances of signing Tennessee Titans
defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth in free agency? Playing
side-by-side, he and Tommie Harris would bring excellent pressure up
the middle.
Joshua C.
Eielson AFB, Arkansas
Joshua: Albert Haynesworth is an excellent defensive tackle and a
disruptive force that would make any defense better. But he likely
will command big money in free agency and I don't see the Bears making
that move given the need to sign Tommie Harris to a contract
extension. Tommie has been slowed by injuries the past two years, but
he has been voted to three straight Pro Bowls and his contract is due
to expire following the 2008 season.
Larry: What price would the Bears have to pay to franchise Brendon
Ayanbadejo? Obviously, the Bears wouldn't want to pay the average of
the NFL's five highest paid linebackers. Is there currently a method
to find the price of the five highest paid special teams players?
John E.
Boulder County, Colorado
John: There is no special teams category—other than for kickers and
punters—when it comes to franchise tags, so if the Bears were to place
a franchise tag on Brendon Ayanbadejo, they would have to pay him just
over $8 million in 2008, the average of the five highest paid
linebackers. As you alluded to, that's not going to happen.
