This is pure speculation. If they want Faneca, they'll make him an 
offer. If he accepts it, they'll withdraw offers from the least 
important players to them. It would be stupid for them to enter free 
agency thinking they are going to wait for Berrian and Briggs if they 
think they can legitimately bring in some other impact FAs. It also 
looks good for them to try and sign their own guys no matter what, even 
if they don't accept. It sends a positive message.

I may be overly optimistic, but I just don't see Angelo sitting back and 
waiting for Briggs and Berrian until the second phase of free agency.
