[CBFF] Inside the Bears: Combine: Bears' focus on own likely precludes them from Faneca sweepstakes - Sent Using Google Toolbar

That also depends on how the contract is structured, what his signing
bonus is (which can be pro-rated), etc.

Cliff Stein is a creative dude. I'm not saying he will sign Faneca, but
he can certainly figure out how. Don't forget Flozell Adams is also
available. The Steelers slapped the transition tag on Max Starks, which
will make him tough to sign. Still, Tait was a transition tag when the
Bears signed him. There are options. I'll be happy if we land 1 of these
3. These are the top tier guys. The Seahawks have a few linemen hitting
the market, too. They've had a decent line over the years. I wouldn't
mind seeing Womack or Locklear as a Bear. I'd be happy if we got one
top-tier guy, one second tier guy, and drafted a linemen or a RB
(Mendenhall).

Also, the fact that the Bears haven't made any noise about their
intentions should be no surprise. They should be quiet about it. They
seem to focus on flying guys into town and then trying to make sure they
don't leave. They have a lot of advantages (new facilities, new stadium,
large market, etc.). They'll be attractive for those reasons plus the
fact that they have been unafraid to show the money as long as Angelo
has been in town.
