[CBFF] NBR - HDTV Question

Okay. I need some help from your A/V types out there.

I'm new to the HDTV revolution. I have a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD TV that
is showing in 1080i off of a Dish Network receiver. I set it up in an
entertainment cabinet and there's only about 2" of clearance from the
top of the set to the top of the cabinet.

Two quick questions:

1 - How much space should I allow to keep the TV from overheating? It
feels pretty warm up there on the top of the TV.

And

2 - When I stand closer to the TV, even the Hi-Def images look grainy
or pixilated. Is that normal? And why is that some hi-def images look
crystal clear and other hi-def images look hardly better than
standard-def?

Thanks for the input!
