Right, but the main point really is that we know the three guys on the roster. None of them look like they'll make any significant strides between now and next year, so what's the harm in only having two mediocre guys and rolling the dice on your third?

So what you're really saying is we should not sign Grossman and not
draft a QB high, rather fill the third QB spot on the roster (not
necessarily third on the depth chart) with some backup who hasn't
played much but is intriguing, and let the three of them compete for
the starting job. If this is what you're saying it's more practical
than profound. It's much different than saying we need to find the
next Derrick Anderson.
