Yes, if you pick a practice squad guy or generally a younger guy, you don't
draft, I think. But if your competitor is an older guy like, for instance,
a Kurt Warner-type (to pick a low-priced, successful example), then I think
you might need to give it serious consideration.
The other problem with drafting a QB is that the team really does have a lot
of other needs that should be addressed there. Then Jerry's argument that
there are more important things to take care of becomes valid. Taking a
flier on someone costs you almost nothing and doesn't preclude improvements
in other areas in any way.
