If that's the case, I'll take the point production over the 'big play
threat' any day.  At the end of the day, the points on the board is what
matters.

Well, if chucking it long is actually a threat, then is supposedly
opens up the running game and the middle of the field for passes
underneath. Take it as a complete package then:
dangerous=big play threat+spreading the field=putting more points on the
board.

This is all in theory, of course.
