For kicks and giggles today I wrote down the eight remaining teams on
a post-it note.  It looked something like this:

Sea @ GB
NYG @ Dal
Jax @NE
SD @ Indy

I was IMMEDIATELY struck by one overwhelming detail:

If I were to rank these teams 1 through 8 - forgetting conference
affiliations for the moment - I wouldn't add an NFC team to the list
until I got to #5.  There's not a single NFC team, IMO, that is better
than a single AFC team.

Doesn't the 1984 to 1996 Superbowl dominance by the NFC seem like a
long, long time ago?
