A good point, but there could easily be A, B, C and maybe D-levels of
competition. Heck, de facto, there is already. So I don't see why that
wouldn't continue in a new disenfranchised NCAA.
Or consider this: if schools like Northwestern were freed from the shackles
of academics, they could recruit just like the big boys. Arguably
Northwestern's biggest issue is its ACT score hurdle. So with that removed,
who knows? They might actually improve relative to the Michigans, Ohio
States and other Big Ten programs.
